Not only at Christmas time

Especially in the Christmas season, many people creep the feeling of wanting to experience more connectedness with their fellow human beings. A large part of our waking consciousness is spent at our workplace in the circle of our colleagues. It may be dismissed as a coincidence which people are my colleagues there. But no matter how you look at it, we usually spend more time (with a 40-hour week) with our colleagues than with our loved ones at home. Reason enough to experience even with these people the highest degree of connectedness.

Two other good reasons for a corporate Christmas party based on Samba Team Drumming come to mind:

The absolute HIGH time of the Samba in Rio and other Brazilian cities also starts around the Christmas season. Because in December, the major Samba schools (Portuguese: Escola de Samba) intensify their preparations for the approaching Carnival in February. At evening temperatures of around 30 degrees, there is no real Christmas atmosphere in the regular rehearsals ;-)
The idea for a team building on the basis of samba drums came to me in the pre-Christmas period 2007. My former employees had asked me as a boss to create another activity like the usual company Christmas party. It germinated and matured the idea of Samba team drumming. So much emotional connectedness and we-feeling as in this former action I had not experienced in the circle of my coworkers before. Thus, the first impulse was set to implement this concept as an entrepreneur.

Now we are offering our teambuilding events for companies as Escola de Samba Team Drummings in the 10th year. And every year, during the pre-Christmas period, we also conduct team drummings as company Christmas parties. For whatever reason, these events usually take place on Thursdays or Fridays (please remember with interest, as these dates are quickly booked).

At first glance, Samba Team Drumming has little to do with our idea of a contemplative Christmas party. But on the other hand, there are some good reasons to do a teambuilding with samba drums, especially during the Christmas season.

Two years later, I dared to found my company Escola de Samba GmbH & Co. KG with this basic idea and to make the Samba team drumming my profession - my vocation was to create and experience drum-induced groove anyway since my early youth.

Meanwhile, based on the basic idea of the first Christmas event, we have developed a whole range of different Samba drum event formats (more about our event formats). With our latest creation, the Jingle Bells Drumming, we return to the original idea, the slightly different corporate Christmas party.
